# Geographic Definitions

### **Geographic Definitions**

MAGNiTT uses specific regional groupings across its platform, reports, and communications. This page defines each grouping and lists the countries included.

### **Emerging Venture Markets (EVM)**

The formal term for MAGNiTT’s full coverage geography. Always capitalised. Includes all countries across MENA, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Southeast Asia markets listed below.

### **MENA (Middle East and North Africa)**

All countries except Israel: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Mauritania, Djibouti, Somalia, Comoros.

### **GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council)**

UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar. The GCC is the most active venture market within MENA by capital deployed.

### **Levant**

Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Syria.

### **North Africa**

Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya.

### **Pakistan**

Full country coverage including all major cities and startup hubs.

### **Türkiye**

Full country coverage. Note: MAGNiTT uses “Türkiye” (the country’s preferred English name) in all communications.

### **Southeast Asia (MAGNiTT coverage)**

Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines.

### **Classification rule**

A startup is classified under a country based on its verified headquarters location. Diaspora founders and companies with only a subsidiary in a coverage country are excluded from that country’s data in reports.
